Gia Lavonne Lawrence

Gia Lawrence, a 5-year breast cancer survivor, is an inspiration for women of all ages. These programs include the "Please Ma'am, Self-Exam" Campaign, American Cancer Society "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" Walk, speaker for the Chosen Vessels Rites of Passage Group, and currently organizing a memorial ceremony.
In addition to her efforts fighting the spread of brest cancer, Gia is active at her church, St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA. She is the Co-Coordinator of the Mime Ministry, a member of "Wind Beneath Wings", Vacation Bible School teacher, Youth Bible Study teacher, church volunteer, member of the Audio/Video Ministry, and member of the Ministers' Wives/Widows Alliance of Tidewater. She is also an ordained Deaconess, and is passionate about serving through ministry.
Gia is no stranger to pageants; in 1982 she was 2nd-runner up in the 1st Miss Teenage County Pageant. However, her motives for competing in the Queen of P.I.N.K. have changed since the Miss Teenage County Pageant.
When asked why she wanted to be the Queen of P.I.N.K., she replied "To bring more awareness, especially to young people, to share my experience and encourage other survivors or fighters, and promote the need for Health Care and support for families."
